Make your own vitamin lotion


What you need

Equipment

Saucepan
Heat resistant China or metal bowl
Hand Whisk
measuring cups and measuring spoons
Heat source
Ice cube trays
Freezer
Air tight container that can be kept in the freezer.
Ingredients

1 tbsp Soya lecithin granules
4 vitamin E (400iu) capsules
1 vitamin A capsule
250ml (or 1 cup) distilled water
80ml cold pressed sweet almond oil or cold pressed safflower oil.

Before you start

Wash all equipment. Sterilise all equipment with boiling water. Drain completely.
Allow to drip dry.
Wipe all kitchen surfaces with disinfectant, wipe again with clean water.
Ensure all kitchen surfaces are clean.
Check expiry date of all ingredients before use. All ingredients must be fresh.

Method

Pour the distilled water and lecithin granules into the heat resistant bowl.  Cover the bowl and put this bowl in a saucepan half filled with water. Put this saucepan over low heat to melt the lecithin granules in the distilled water.
Measure out the cold pressed oil. Prick the vitamin capsules and add to the oil.
When the lecithin is melted, remove from heat. Take the bowl out of the saucepan.
Use the whisk to mix the lecithin well with the water.
Slowly add the oils to the mixture. Stop mixing once all the oil is incorporated into the mixture.

Cover and leave to cool

When cool, it is ready to use.

As there are no preservatives in you lotion, you have to be totally vigilant about hygiene.
Freeze the lotion into single use quantities in the sterile ice cube tray. when frozen, remove from ice tray and transfer to a sterile container that can be kept in the freezer. Keep in the freezer and thaw out only what you need when you need it.
